SPAIN has never qualified for the FIFA World Cup final. their best achievement was in 1950 when they finished 4th behind URUGUAY, BRAZIL & SWEDEN in the final pool.
ITALY has won it 4 times, most recently in 2006 when they beat FRANCE 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in extra time. the Azzurris have won it previously in 1934, 1938 & 1982 & also finish as runners-up twice in 1970 & 1994.
FRANCE have won the only FIFA World Cup in 1998 when they hosted the tournament. it was their first ever appearance in the FIFA World Cup final as they beat the defending champions, BRAZIL 3-0 in the final. they qualified for the final again in 2006, only to lose to ITALY on penalties.
